A Child's Christmas in Wales - NOW PLAYING

So, we are up and running. Come on out and see Dylan Thomas' famous poem come to life. We have a very talented cast of 11 kids and 4 adults. The main theme that I tried to convey is one of a universal Christmas. The idea of Christmas time as something that is shared and experienced all through the world and by everyone in all walks of life.

We've included personal stories of Christmases past straight from the cast as well as including a new story every night solicited from the audience.

The show runs Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until Christmas eve.

Well, I guess a five-month hiatus isn't too long when you consider how often I update this thing. :-)

For those of you that still stop by here and may be curious: I'm still around and I'm currently preparing for my Seattle directing debut. I'll be directing a show based on the poem by Dylan Thomas "A Child's Christmas in Wales" for Stone Soup Theatre in Seattle.

Stone Soup is a very cool little theatre I met up with earlier in the year that specializes in doing one-act plays. This particular

show is part of their yearly conservatory program and will be opening December 4th. I'll post more specific details as the time draws near. For the moment, I'm just trying my hardest to get my mind thinking about Christmas in late summer.

In other news, I was fortunate enough earlier in the year to spend a fun night with Pearl Jam on the set of their new music video "The Fixer." It was all very hush-hush for a while, but now that the new album Backspacer is out, you can view me and 199 other adoring "fans" in this very cool video directed by Cameron Crowe:

To round out this little update, I'm proud to announce that I now have representation here in Seattle as well as the Portland area. I just signed with The Bell Agency and will, hopefully, be doing a bit more film/tv work soon.

Oh, right. I have a blog. I remember that. :-)

So, folks, it's been a long time since my last update, I know, but frankly there hasn't been much to talk about. Just still getting my bearings straight in Seattle and trying to stay out of the way of the snow. BUT, I do have an announcement. As you'll see in the fancy graphic to the left, Wildcat will be running from May 7th to May 24th. It's my latest directing project at 42nd Street Moon. I know it's confusing: Seattle, San Francisco, Seattle...believe me, I'm not exactly sure where "home" is these days, myself. But, for now I'm in the bay area and having a blast putting together this show with 15 very talented performers. Come and see it! It's a great script with a lively score and includes lots of hunky dancing oilmen. It's a San Franciscan's dream.

Where I've been

My winter has been one of travel and transition. For those who didn't already know, I'm currently living in Seattle. Of course, though, it wasn't just a straight move from San Francisco. It started with a very long drive up here with a very relaxing stop in Gasquet, CA where, for two days, I got to live among some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen -- not to mention in some of the coldest weather I've ever felt. :-)

From there, it was immediately back to San Francisco to run casting for a show I will be directing there in April (details soon).

THEN, it was down to Louisiana to hang with the friends and folks for the holidays (sort of a second vacation in a row).

Now, it's all about trying to get settled in Seattle (hmm...wasn't that a movie?) . I've just started to dip my toe into the opportunities here. I will be going back to SF for a month, so I can't really jump head first into it, yet (what's with all the swimming references?). So far, however, I've been happy to be treated to the sights and sounds of what appears to be a pleasant and vibrant city. The buildings are certainly pretty!

More updates soon. For now, I just wanted to put an offical "announcement" out there for all those of you who have been asking. San Francisco was a very life-altering experience -- in good and bad ways -- but now it's time to move on. To what, I haven't figured out yet. But, as overly zen as it may sound, I am slowly starting to hear the whispers calling me toward my next experience.

Only one more weekend to catch The Last Five Years running at Thibodaux Playhouse. It's about a divorce -- you know, a happy, splashy, fun summer musical. :-)

Actually, audiences have been light (probably because people are still confused about whether or not they are doing Jeckyl and Hyde or no show at all). So, if you are in the area, come on out and bring three friends with you! It's turned out to be quite a solid performance.

It's been very nice to be home and getting to see my folks and friends. I had forgotten how relaxing this area can be. If only I could take the food with me. But, "vacation" must come to an end. Monday it's back off to San Francisco to start running auditions for They're Playing Our Song at California Conservatory Theatre. Please send piano-playing male actor/singers my way!!

Homecoming!

Sorry, again, folks for the lack of timely information. I wanted to make sure this was all set in stone before I announced it.

This weekend, I will be heading off for a month-long trip back to the swamps of Louisiana. I've been asked to come down and play Jamie in a production of The Last Five Years at Thibodaux Playhouse. This will prove to be a fun experience in that it is sort of a cyclical homecoming. This playhouse is pretty much where I honed my "craft." I lost count of the number of shows I've acted, directed, or done a million other things in for them over the years I lived in the South Louisiana area. Now they are hiring me as a professional.

It will be a great opportunity to reunite with my oldest and dearest friends and, of course, my family whom I don't see nearly enough. Plus, life has been very very crazy and I'm, most of all, looking forward to just being surrounded by people who truly love me. :-)

BUT, you don't get rid of me that easily. I will be back in the Bay Area in August to direct They're Playing Our Song for California Conservatory Theatre under the new artistic direction of Mike Reynolds, and will then be rolling right into playing Goldfarb for 42nd Street Moon's production of Girl Crazy (running in Oct./Nov.).

I'll keep the blog posted with specifics as they get closer!

Midnight Shakespeare / Comedy of Errors

I'm beginning to understand why Dionne Warwick needed to know the way to San Jose. I've been trying to find a way to get there for two weeks now and each one is more confusing than the other. You'd think having lots of highways going through a place would afford you more options. But, if you don't label them, what's the point?

Anyhow -- The reason I'm braving this impossible task is that I'm currently serving as one of three director/instructors of Midnight Shakespeare through the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival. We are producing 3 shows (mine is Comedy of Errors) at Morrill Middle School in San Jose with about 50 sixth through eighth graders. The program is designed to build some self-esteem and teamwork skills as well as introduce kids to Shakespeare. So far it's been very fun. I just cast my show and we're off!

We will be performing all three shows (Romeo and Juliet, Midsummer Night's Dream, Comedy of Errors) at 6pm on May 15th at Morrill Middle School. Come out and see them! (if you can find your way.)

Hey there General Public. No, the blog is not defunct nor am I living in the woods re-arranging all the pinecones. I'm just taking a very welcomed break - a vacation of sorts. Nothing really to announce or report. I'm just enjoying being able to actually sleep every now and then and getting some ducks in a row -- I've discovered tying their legs together helps alot.

I'll more than likely be doing some sort of project this summer, but I haven't quite decided what that will be yet. I'm still holding out to see if Hillary will ask me to be her running mate. If that doesn't work out, I'll be sure to post what I DO end up doing (since I know you are all on pins and needles to find out).
For the time being, if you're here for resumes and whatnot, those links are still available to your right. I have to run now. The hammock is calling.

ASSASSINS!

Sorry it's been so long since the last update, folks. I've been very busy with my fellow cast members in trying to get Assassins to be as good as the artwork. :-)

Also, took a little trip to the Seattle Film Festival last weekend (Thanks, Tory). I highly recommend seeing Monkey Warfare, if you get the chance. Very fun.

Anyway, the time has arrived. Tickets are on sale for the upcoming Custom Made Theatre Company production of the Stephen Sondheim musical: Assassins! I'm playing the role of Leon Czolgosz. This is like three roles in a row where I have to try not to totally butcher some sort of specific accent. This time it's Polish. What IS different this time around is the type of role. No pratfalling rubber-limbed antics here. Only stone-faced angry bitterness. You know, like my love life. :-)

Custom Made's space is tiny, so it should all be nice and scary. hee hee. PLUS, that means you all need to get your tickets early so that we don't sell out before you get a chance to watch presidents get knocked off one by one.

Two Announcments!

Hurry hurry. Only one more weekend to catch me and my glue-on mustache in 42nd Street Moon's Gay Divorce! Our last performances will be this Thursday through Sunday May 3rd through the 6th. For specifics, check out my performance calendar to the right or visit the 42nd Street Moon website.

In other news, I've just been cast as Leon Czolgosz in the Stephen Sondheim musical Assassins.
The show will be performed with the Custom Made Theatre Company in San Francisco. This should be a very exciting show for many reasons. First, this will be my first show with this company. So far I love the staff. The director Brian Katz is very smart and down to earth. The musical director Armando Fox really knows his Sondheim and is already very fun to work with.

Assassins will open June 14th and run for about a month. Stay tuned for more details. :-)

For those of you in the South Louisiana area or for those of you from the bay area planning to be flying across the country this weekend, or for anyone who just wants to know about it: my best buddy in the whole entire world is producing the very funny Steve Martin comedy, "Picasso at the Lapin Agile."

The show is presented by The Sam and Jim Acting Company. I encourage anyone who can to please go out and support the efforts of this brand new theatre group that is bravely trying to bring more art and culture to South Louisiana's "Cajun Country."

Alrighty. It's time! Previews for Cole Porter's Gay Divorce at 42nd Street Moon begin this Thursday, April 12th. Some may be familiar with the Fred Astaire / Ginger Rogers movie by the similar name: The Gay Divorcee. This is the 1932 musical that the movie was based on.

Come see wonderful dancing and singing by the very talented Michael Dotson and Nina Josephs, a bad English accent by your's truely, an even worse Italian accent by the very funny Rudy Guerrero, non-stop one-liners from Carla Befera and a bevy of swimsuit-baring beach beauties. All that, and more! And you don't even have to be divorced to enjoy it. :-)

Rehearsals for Gay Divorce are on the march. Working with a very talented cast - a lot of whom I just met for the first time.

This week we finished up staging the "Salt Air" number which features a gaggle of very sexy singing girls -- and me in a silly bathing suit. Full Monty, this is not. It's even better. Everyone gets to see my very hairy legs! -- That shouldn't stop you from seeing the show, though.
